Eviction Drive Clears 146 Families from Golaghat’s Negheri Bil Forest Land

Authorities in Golaghat began evicting illegal settlers from the Doyang Reserve Forest’s Negheri Bil, removing 146 of 205 families on Friday. Around 350–400 bighas were encroached. Fifty-seven families received a court extension until August 15, with the remaining evictions set for August 16. The drive is part of Assam’s campaign to reclaim forest land and protect indigenous rights.
