TADA Court Acquits 38 in 1991 ULFA Case

A special TADA court in Guwahati has acquitted 38 accused in a 1991 ULFA-related case after nearly 35 years. Among them are pro-talk ULFA leaders Anup Chetia, Arabinda Rajkhowa, and Pradip Gogoi. Of 45 charged, three remain absconding, including ULFA (I) chief Paresh Barua, while four died during trial. The case, transferred to TADA court in 2001, symbolized Assam’s militancy era and the slow pace of justice.
