FIR Against ‘The Wire’ Journalists Also Names Satya Pal Malik, Najam Sethi

Guwahati Police filed an FIR against journalists Siddharth Vardarajan and Karan Thapar, also naming late J&K governor Satya Pal Malik, Pakistani commentator Najam Sethi, and others. The complaint alleges that articles and interviews published by The Wire after the Pahalgam terror attack undermined India’s sovereignty, spread misinformation, and glorified hostile narratives. The case was filed under sedition and other sections of the BNS. The Supreme Court has granted protection to Vardarajan and Thapar from coercive police action.
