Meghalaya CM Assures Control Over Assam Border Dispute
Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma said the Assam-Meghalaya border situation is under control, though sporadic incidents may continue due to historic disputes. He highlighted the 2022 MoU resolving six disputed areas and ongoing talks for the remaining six. Boundary pillars are being installed, and regional committees formed to involve local communities. Sangma stressed dialogue for lasting peace, noting a temporary calm due to Assam elections. The dispute dates back to 1969, covering 12 contested stretches along the interstate border.
