AASU Seeks Action on Infiltration, Demands Tough Measures
The All Assam Students Union (AASU) has welcomed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assurance in Guwahati that infiltrators would be expelled from India, terming it a positive recognition of the Assam agitation. However, AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya stressed that Assam’s people want concrete action, not just promises.
He urged the Centre to launch a special operation to detect and deport illegal Bangladeshi nationals, delete their names from electoral rolls, and seal the international border with shoot-at-sight orders. AASU also demanded constitutional amendments to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord for safeguarding land, language, culture, and political rights of indigenous people.
Bhattacharya further criticized the Home Minister for not addressing issues of flood and erosion during his visit.
