Assam Govt to Build Two Memorials for Zubeen Garg

The Assam Government will construct two memorials of late music icon Zubeen Garg — one at Sonapur and another in Jorhat, announced Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora.

He said public suggestions would be sought for the designs, ensuring fans and family members’ views are respected. The shraddha ceremony will be organized in Jorhat, with the venue yet to be finalized, likely Jorhat stadium or Court Field to accommodate large crowds.

The cremation site at Sonapur will soon get a boundary wall, and the memorial design will follow. Bora, a fan himself, said Zubeen’s legacy and songs would be preserved, calling the public’s love for him unmatched.
