Tea Tribe Community Protests in Tinsukia Demanding ST Status and Land Rights

As CM Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed aid under MMUA in Tinsukia, tens of thousands from the tea tribe community staged protests demanding ST status, land rights, and higher daily wages. Organised by student and community groups, the demonstrators accused the government of ignoring long-pending promises. Sarma said BJP supports the demand and assured that a Group of Ministers’ report on the issue will be tabled in November.
