ATC Tea Workers Protest Wage Hike Delay in Jorhat

Tea workers under the Assam Tea Corporation staged a massive protest at Cinnamara Tea Estate on Wednesday, demanding the wage hike promised by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Workers accused the government of betrayal, saying the new Rs 250 daily wage announced for October 1 hasn’t been implemented. Operations across several ATC-run estates remain halted as protests continue. Security has been tightened at the site to prevent unrest.
