AASU Renews Protest Against Subansiri Hydroelectric Project

AASU in Dhemaji has reiterated its opposition to the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, warning of threats to downstream communities. Member Dipak Sarma accused the government of ignoring scientific advice and endangering lives. The 2,000 MW project at Gerukamukh has begun wet commissioning of its first 250 MW unit, marking a major milestone for NHPC. Despite safety assurances, AASU insists the government will be responsible for any future disasters.
