In a major boost to the state’s education sector, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will distribute appointment letters to 5,500 Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) teachers at a special ceremony in Guwahati today.

The event will be held at the Veterinary College playground in Khanapara at 3:00 PM, marking another milestone in the Assam government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the teaching workforce across the state.

Ahead of the event, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited the venue on Saturday evening to review final preparations. Sharing an update on X, he wrote, “Visited the Veterinary College playground at Khanapara this evening to review the preparations for the distribution of appointment letters to 5,500 LP/UP teachers by HCM @himantabiswa tomorrow, 9th November, 2025 at 3:00 PM.”

The large-scale recruitment drive reflects the government’s continued focus on improving the quality of education in Assam by ensuring adequate teacher deployment in primary schools.

Thousands of newly appointed teachers from across the state are expected to attend the ceremony, which will also be streamed live for wider public viewing.
