Assam CM Hands Over Insurance Benefits Under Zero-Cost Employee Scheme

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed insurance cheques to seven families under the Zero Cost Employee Insurance Scheme. Four families received ₹1 crore each for personal accident claims, two got ₹10 lakh under term life insurance, and one received ₹75 lakh for partial disability.
The government has now extended the scheme to contractual and PSU employees through a new MoU with Axis Bank. Over four lakh employees are enrolled, with 203 of 238 claims settled so far. The scheme operates through five major banks providing comprehensive, zero-cost insurance coverage.
