Hatijan Tea Estate Workers Protest Dismissal of Six Employees

Hundreds of workers at Hatijan tea estate in Duliajan protested on Thursday, demanding reinstatement of six dismissed employees. The dispute stems from an alleged assault on the estate manager in 2024. Though a settlement in January 2025 promised no disciplinary action, the management reopened the inquiry and terminated the workers.

Talks between the management and ACMS failed, leading to a lockout on November 8. Workers have stopped work in solidarity, while AASAA and ATTSA joined the protest, urging authorities to resolve the issue and restore normal operations.
