Manipur Forces Destroy Over 90 Acres of Illegal Poppy Plantations

Security forces in Manipur, along with government agencies, destroyed nearly 35 acres of poppy fields in Ukhrul’s Mullam hill range on November 13, demolishing three huts used by cultivators. A day earlier, around 56 acres of poppy plantations were cleared in Kangpokpi district, where 19 huts were razed and fertiliser and salt bags were seized and destroyed.
Officials said the back-to-back operations aim to cripple illegal poppy cultivation networks and curb narcotics production, with more coordinated actions planned ahead.
