Assam to Begin Special Electoral Roll Revision from November 22

The Assam Election Commission has announced a Special Revision of the electoral roll starting November 22, with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. CEO Anurag Goel said the process aims to include all eligible voters ahead of the 2026 elections, separate from the NRC publication. BLOs will conduct house-to-house verification using pre-filled registers, without document checks. The number of voters per booth will be reduced from 1,500 to 1,200, adding around 1,826 new polling stations. The draft roll will be published on December 27, with claims and objections open until January 22. The final roll will be released on February 10. Citizens can update details via Forms 6, 7, and 8, and verify their names through the Voter Helpline app.
