Santals Warn BJP of “Fitting Response” in 2026 if ST Status Demand Not Met

Over 500 members of the All Santal Students’ Union protested in Biswanath, warning the BJP government of consequences in the 2026 elections if their long-pending demands—especially Scheduled Tribe status—remain unmet. They also sought land pattas, Santal-specific caste certificates, full implementation of the 2022 Adivasi Peace Accord, and expansion of Santal language education. The group plans more protests in Chirang, Guwahati, and later in Delhi if the government fails to act.
