ULFA(I) Talks Possible Only If Paresh Barua Joins: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said peace talks with ULFA(I) can proceed only if its chief Paresh Barua personally agrees to join the dialogue. His statement came after senior ULFA(I) leader Arunoday Dahotia and his security officer surrendered near the Indo-Myanmar border.
Sarma said Dahotia’s surrender does not change the situation and talks with anyone other than Barua would be meaningless. He added that Barua has never shown willingness for dialogue and dismissed speculation about any Delhi meeting involving the surrendered cadres.
