Suspect Identified in Margherita Monk’s Suspected Murder

Police probing the suspected murder of Indrabansha Mahathera Bhikkhu, chief monk of Inthem Mungong Buddha Vihara in Margherita, have identified a possible suspect but say the investigation is still in early stages.

The 55-year-old monk was found dead in his room with a blood-stained axe beside him. Police recovered the body, seized the axe, and an RFSL team collected fingerprints.

Local residents and the Gorkha Students’ Union have demanded quick action, calling the killing of a religious leader unacceptable. Police are exploring all angles, including motive and possible links to drug abuse in the area.
