Assam Cabinet Clears Land Tribunal Bill, Karbi Council & New MRO Policy

The Assam Cabinet has approved the Assam District Land Tribunal Bill, 2025, creating independent tribunals to fast-track encroachment disputes in tribal belts. Headed by retired district judges, these tribunals will bypass DC offices and aim to settle cases within 90 days, with appeals allowed to the Gauhati High Court.
The Cabinet also cleared the Karbi Welfare Autonomous Council Bill, 2025, to support Karbi communities living outside KAAC areas.
Additionally, the Assam Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Policy, 2025, was approved to make the state a major aviation servicing hub by 2030, targeting Rs 1,500 crore in investments and over 1,000 skilled jobs.
A High Powered Investment Committee will also be formed to fast-track clearances for projects worth Rs 10,000 crore and above.
