Hagrama Mohilary Predicts NDA Sweep in 2026 Assam Elections

Bodoland Territorial Council Chief and BPF president Hagrama Mohilary said he is confident the NDA will win the 2026 Assam Assembly elections with a sweeping mandate.

Speaking at a foundation stone event in Kokrajhar, he said Congress-held seats in Lower Assam may shift to BJP and its allies. He also hinted at changes in BTC leadership, including new BJP members being appointed to key positions.

Mohilary reiterated support for granting ST status to six communities but stressed protecting existing tribal rights. He also welcomed the exemption of autonomous council areas from the proposed polygamy ban.

He added that the new nursing college project would strengthen education infrastructure in the region.
