Over 1,000 Congress Workers Resign in West Karbi Anglong

In a major blow to the Congress ahead of the 2026 Assam elections, more than 1,000 party workers and several key leaders in West Karbi Anglong resigned on Thursday.
The mass resignation, submitted at the Dongkamukam District Congress office, was in protest against district president Augustin Enghi’s leadership.
Senior leaders including vice-president Joy Ching Bongrung, secretary Chhatra Teron, and general secretary Anthony Teron were among those who quit. Sources said nine mandal committees also resigned and many members are expected to join the BJP soon.
