Gogoi Accuses Assam CM of Fueling Conflict Over ST Status Issue

APCC president Gaurav Gogoi accused Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of creating tension between the six communities seeking ST status and existing ST groups. Gogoi said Congress supports ST status for the six communities without affecting current tribal rights and had passed a resolution earlier.
He alleged the government failed to prove that existing ST rights would remain protected and accused the CM of “divide and rule politics.” Gogoi said the people of Assam want unity and harmony, not conflict.
