Assam Cabinet Finalises Martyrs’ Memorial Inauguration, Clears Key Welfare Decisions

The Assam Cabinet has finalised the two-day programme to inaugurate the Assam Movement martyrs’ memorial in Guwahati. Earthen lamps will be lit statewide on December 9, followed by the inauguration of Swahid Smarak Bhawan on December 10, with families of martyrs invited. Districts will observe Swahid Divas and citizens are urged to light lamps at home.

Key decisions include increasing ex-gratia for deceased NHM employees’ families from ₹5 lakh to ₹7.5 lakh and a 35% salary hike for staff of five Mini ITIs. The Cabinet also approved amendments to North Lakhimpur University governance and cleared land pattas for over 1,300 applicants under Mission Basundhara.
