Dr. D.K. Bhattacharyya Takes Charge as Acting VC of Tezpur University

Senior professor Dr. Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharyya officially assumed charge as Acting Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University on Thursday amid ongoing protests. His appointment follows university statutes due to the prolonged absence of the current VC.

The move comes after days of student and faculty unrest triggered by reports of a proposed Pro-VC appointment, which protesters called arbitrary. While many welcomed Dr. Bhattacharyya’s appointment, demonstrations continued, with demands for the removal of the current VC and clarity on administrative decisions.
