Public Support Grows for Silchar Flyover Amid Traffic Woes

The Flyover Implementation Demand Committee has intensified its campaign for a flyover in Silchar to ease chronic traffic congestion, collecting over 15,000 signatures so far. A memorandum has already been submitted to the district administration for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Committee leader Basudev Sharma said public participation, especially from youth, reflects strong support for the long-pending demand. Former Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul also backed the project, calling opposition to the flyover irrational and possibly politically motivated.

Addressing traders’ concerns, Paul acknowledged temporary inconvenience during construction but stressed that long-term benefits would outweigh short-term hardships, urging unity for Silchar’s development.
