No Alliance with AIUDF in 2026, Says Assam Congress Chief Gaurav Gogoi

Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi has categorically ruled out any alliance with the AIUDF for the 2026 Assembly elections, describing it as a communal party similar to the BJP. He said the Congress would not partner with one communal force to oppose another.

Gogoi’s remarks come after the Congress and eight Opposition parties formed the Asom Sonmilito Morcha to jointly contest the polls, excluding AIUDF. He said seat-sharing talks within the Morcha would be held privately.

He also alleged growing discontent within the BJP, accused the state leadership of neglecting basic infrastructure, and rejected claims that Congress was “pro-Miya”, calling such allegations baseless.
