NFR Enhances Safety at Level Crossing Gates Across Its Network

Northeast Frontier Railway has strengthened safety at level crossing gates by upgrading signalling systems, adopting modern technology, and ensuring regular maintenance. The railway operates 624 interlocked level crossings, including eight commissioned this financial year.
NFR has installed sliding boom barriers at 10 crossings and commissioned 500 electric lifting barriers across the zone, replacing several mechanical barriers. Additionally, system integrity tests and electrical checks were conducted at multiple locations to improve reliability and ensure safer train and road movement.
