Security Agencies on High Alert Over Jihadi Threat in Assam

Security agencies have warned that continuous vigilance is needed to counter jihadi activities in Assam, as Bangladesh-based outfits like JMB and Ansar Bangla Team have repeatedly tried to establish bases in the state. While police and security forces have foiled such attempts and arrested several elements, the threat persists amid rising fundamentalist activities in Bangladesh.

Sources said extremist groups are increasingly using cyberspace to radicalise youths. To curb this, the Assam government has banned jihadi literature, enabling stricter action against those possessing or spreading such material, though monitoring all online content remains a challenge.
