Gaurav Gogoi Seeks White Paper on Flood Funds During PM Modi’s Assam Visit

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on a two-day visit, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi demanded a white paper on central funds allocated to Assam for flood and erosion control.
Addressing a programme in Majuli, Gogoi called for transparency and sought a state-wise comparison of disaster funds, citing states like Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. He also recalled major infrastructure projects completed during former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s tenure.
Earlier, the Centre approved ₹313.69 crore as additional assistance for Assam’s 2024 flood and landslide recovery. The decision was taken by a high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which sanctioned a total of ₹707.97 crore for Assam and Gujarat.
