VHP, Bajrang Dal Protest Christmas Celebrations in Nalbari

Members of Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal staged protests against Christmas celebrations in Nalbari district on Wednesday.
The protesters entered St Mary’s School at Panigaon village, vandalised Christmas decorations, and toppled a statue of Jesus Christ. They also burned banners and posters while raising slogans, and warned the school authorities against celebrating Christmas on campus.
The groups later visited shops selling Christmas items in Nalbari town and set fire to such items near the Jain Mandir. VHP district secretary Bhaskar Deka said they oppose celebrations and commercial activities linked to festivals of “non-Indian origin.”
