Sonowal Urges BJP Unity Ahead of Assam 2026 Polls

Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has cautioned BJP workers against complacency and infighting ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, urging discipline and unity. Speaking at the BJP state executive meet, he said the party was confident of a third term, citing a decade of governance under the “double-engine” government.
Sonowal alleged that Assam suffered neglect under Congress rule and claimed peace and stability returned only after the BJP came to power in 2016 through development initiatives and peace accords, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He reminded workers that “nation comes first, party second and self last.”
