AGP to Decide Seat-Sharing with BJP Ahead of 2026 Assam Polls

The Asom Gana Parishad said it will soon finalise its seat-sharing arrangement with alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party after reviewing all factors. AGP president and state minister Atul Bora said support from a national party is vital for Assam’s development and for implementing the Assam Accord.

Speaking ahead of the New Year, Bora said the AGP is preparing strongly for the 2026 Assembly elections, focusing on constituencies where it has a strong base. He expressed confidence that remaining clauses of the Assam Accord would be implemented in 2026 and reiterated support for ST status to six communities while protecting existing ST groups.
