Gaurav Gogoi Criticises Kaziranga Project, Flags Flood Embankment Priority

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday criticised the Centre’s proposed Rs 7,000-crore Kaziranga project, saying the funds should have been used to strengthen river embankments to address Assam’s recurring floods. Addressing a public meeting in Nalbari, he said BJP-led governments were ignoring people’s real problems and questioned the ecological impact of large infrastructure projects near Kaziranga.

Gogoi also accused the BJP of failing to deliver relief despite repeated announcements, alleging land mismanagement and rising insecurity. Reiterating the Congress’s commitment to inclusive development, he said public interest was shifting towards the Congress alliance and urged national recognition for Assam’s cultural icons.
