PM Modi Launches Kaziranga Wildlife Corridor, Emphasises Development with Conservation in Assam

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the ₹6,957-crore Kaziranga elevated wildlife corridor and virtually launched two Amrit Bharat Express trains, highlighting that infrastructure growth and conservation can progress together. Speaking at Kaliabor, he said the nearly 90-km corridor would allow safe wildlife movement beneath the highway while improving connectivity between Upper Assam, Guwahati, and Arunachal Pradesh. Modi described Kaziranga as the soul of Assam’s biodiversity and noted the state’s achievement of zero rhino poaching in 2025. He added that improved road and rail connectivity would boost tourism and economic growth in the Northeast. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called the project historic, saying it balances development with long-term wildlife protection.
