Congress Rules Out Alliance with AIUDF, Gaurav Gogoi Targets Assam BJP Government

APCC president Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday said the Congress will not form any electoral alliance with the AIUDF, calling its expectations ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections misplaced. Speaking at a party meeting in the Hajo–Sualkuchi constituency, he said the Congress would contest independently and focus on rebuilding public trust. Gogoi accused Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the BJP of misleading people, failing to fulfil poll promises, and dividing society. Joined by former APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah, he also raised concerns over declining traditional industries, unfulfilled welfare commitments, and alleged irregularities in voter lists, while continuing his outreach campaign across the constituency.
