Assam Emerging as Investor-Friendly Hub, Says CM Sarma at Davos

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the World Economic Forum in Davos said Assam is fast emerging as an attractive investment destination due to proactive governance, investor-friendly policies and the Centre’s Act East policy. He said the state offers direct engagement with investors and faster clearances compared to larger states.

Sarma said nearly Rs 3 lakh crore worth of projects have been grounded out of Rs 5 lakh crore investment proposals received under Assam Advantage 2.0. He highlighted Assam’s power-surplus status, growing role in the semiconductor ecosystem, and strong infrastructure growth in the Northeast, calling it the country’s fastest-growing market. He also said geological surveys for rare earth minerals are underway, which could strengthen India’s strategic mineral security.
