Rs 213 Crore Kamakhya Ropeway Project Announced

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced a Rs 213.24 crore ropeway project connecting Kamakhya Railway Station with the Maa Kamakhya Temple. The 1.43-km ropeway will reduce travel time from 20 minutes to six minutes and serve over 16,500 passengers using 18 modern gondolas.

The project aims to promote eco-friendly mobility, ease traffic congestion, and boost tourism and local employment. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the initiative, calling it a major step towards enhancing pilgrim convenience while preserving the temple’s spiritual heritage.
