Passenger Boat Capsizes in Brahmaputra, Six Feared Missing in Barpeta

A motorised passenger boat capsized midstream in the Brahmaputra River in Assam’s Barpeta district on Tuesday, leaving six people, including four children, feared missing. The boat was ferrying commuters from Rahampur to Borghul. Rescue operations by local fishermen, SDRF and IRB teams are underway, with an NDRF team en route. Preliminary reports suggest the vessel lacked basic safety measures, renewing concerns over unsafe ferry operations on the Brahmaputra.
