880 Hectares of Encroached Forest Land Reclaimed in Sribhumi: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that 880 hectares of forest land in Sribhumi district have been cleared of encroachment and recovered for reforestation after an eviction drive. Calling it a “mission accomplished,” he said the government will act wherever forest or public land is illegally occupied.

The drive follows similar eviction operations in Hailakandi district, where notices were issued to families living on reserved forest land. The state government said such drives will continue to protect forest areas and promote reforestation.
