Over 500 Appeals Filed After Electoral Roll Revision in Assam: ECI

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday said that over 500 appeals have been filed from the 2.43 lakh names removed during Assam’s recent Special Revision of electoral rolls, indicating the exercise’s robustness.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced several first-time initiatives for Assam, including mobile phone deposit counters outside polling stations, enhanced ballot readability, a cap of 1,200 voters per polling station, 100% webcasting, and polling help desks set up away from booths.
The ECI said election dates will be finalised keeping the Bihu festival in mind. A total of 31,486 polling stations will be set up across the state, with special focus on women-managed booths, youth participation, and assured minimum facilities at all polling stations.
