Amit Shah Launches Vibrant Villages Programme Phase II in Assam

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched Phase II of the Vibrant Villages Programme from a border village in Cachar district, stating that India’s border villages would become the country’s “first and finest villages.” He said the mission aims to boost infrastructure, connectivity, security and livelihoods in border areas.

The programme will cover nearly 2,000 villages in 17 states and UTs with an outlay of about Rs 7,000 crore. In Assam, 140 villages across nine border districts will benefit. Shah said the initiative targets zero migration, zero infiltration and equal development of border and mainland regions.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the scheme would bring roads, electricity, water, mobile connectivity, schools and healthcare to remote villages, with major investments planned in the state.
