PM Modi to Visit Barak Valley on March 14 to Launch Key Projects

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Barak Valley on March 14 to lay foundation stones for major infrastructure projects. The key project is the Rs 22,000 crore Panchgram–Barapani (Silchar–Shillong) Express Highway, aimed at cutting travel time between Barak Valley and Guwahati to about 4.5 hours.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a flyover in Silchar to ease traffic congestion. Sarma said environmental clearance for the proposed greenfield airport at Doloo has been received, and the project will be taken up after Cabinet approval.
