Assam Rifles Destroys 8 Acres of Illegal Poppy Cultivation in Manipur

Assam Rifles, along with CRPF, Manipur Police and the Forest Department, destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over eight acres in Manipur’s Senapati district on February 24. The joint operation was carried out in the Sadim Hill Range based on specific intelligence.

Officials said the crop could have yielded about 58 kg of opium worth several crores of rupees. Security forces also demolished makeshift huts and destroyed irrigation equipment at the site, dealing a major blow to drug trafficking networks in the region.
