Assam Govt Seeks MEA Details on State Residents in West Asia

The Assam government is in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to gather information on people from the state residing or stranded in West Asia amid the escalating conflict. Officials said no official data is currently available on the number of Assamese people in the region, though many work in sectors like aviation and business.
Meanwhile, following flight cancellations due to the Middle East crisis, the MEA has advised foreign nationals in India affected by travel disruptions to contact their nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for visa extensions or to regularise their stay. The situation follows major US-Israeli strikes on Iran, in which Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed.
