AJP Questions Govt After Court Orders Unfreezing of Accused’s Bank Account

The Asom Jatiya Parishad has criticised the Assam government after a court ordered the unfreezing of the bank account of Shyamkanu Mahanta, the main accused in the murder case of singer Zubeen Garg.
AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi and general secretary Jagadish Bhuyan said the move reflects serious investigative lapses. The court noted that police failed to follow proper procedure under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita while freezing the account.
The party also questioned the role of the Special Investigation Team led by Munna Prasad Gupta and demanded that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma explain the alleged failures in the investigation.
