Assam Opposition Alliance Announces Joint Campaign Ahead of 2026 Polls

An opposition alliance of four parties in Assam on Friday announced a joint statewide campaign ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
At a press conference in Guwahati, Gaurav Gogoi said coordinated campaign meetings will begin across the state soon, noting that the time before the elections is limited.
The alliance currently includes the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Assam Jatiya Parishad, All Party Hill Leaders Conference, and Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Leaders said the alliance aims to strengthen its grassroots presence and jointly campaign against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. They also indicated that talks are underway with other parties, including Raijor Dal and CPI(ML), to expand the coalition before the elections.
