Assam Moves to Declare Kumri Beel in Goalpara as Reserve Forest

The Assam government has issued a preliminary notification to bring Kumri Beel in Goalpara district under reserve forest status, covering about 270 hectares of land.
The Additional District Commissioner of Goalpara has been appointed as the Forest Settlement Officer to examine any claims or rights over the land. People with claims can submit them during the inquiry process.
After the settlement process, the government may officially declare Kumri Beel a reserve forest to strengthen wetland conservation and protect biodiversity in the area.
