BJP–AGP Finalise Seat Sharing in Assam, Tensions Emerge in Key Constituencies

Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the BJP and AGP have finalised their seat-sharing agreement under the NDA alliance. However, he said some constituencies may witness “friendly contests” if both parties field candidates.

Tensions have surfaced in Dergaon, Khumtai (Golaghat district), and Barhampur (Nagaon district) where AGP workers have expressed dissatisfaction over seat allocation. Despite the differences, AGP leaders said the party remains committed to the BJP–AGP alliance as elections approach.
