Gaurav Gogoi Criticises Renaming of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi criticised the Assam government’s decision to remove the name of former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed from the Barpeta Medical College, calling it an insult to a respected Assamese leader and freedom fighter. He urged the government to reconsider the move and preserve the legacy of the former President.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, however, defended the decision, stating that the renaming aims to maintain uniformity in naming government medical colleges based on their geographical locations across Assam.
