Assam Govt Focusing on Decentralised Governance: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government is working to decentralise administration and reduce the concentration of governance in Guwahati.

Speaking after inaugurating a new secretariat complex in Silchar on Saturday, he said the initiative aims to bring government services closer to people in the Barak Valley.

Sarma added that the government has delegated more powers to district administrations and created several co-districts to strengthen grassroots governance. He also highlighted earlier steps such as holding an Assembly session in Kokrajhar and establishing another secretariat in Dibrugarh.
