Four major inland water transport projects worth ₹526 crore have been launched in Assam to improve connectivity and tourism along the Brahmaputra River. The projects are being implemented by the Inland Waterways Authority of India under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The initiatives include an elevated corridor connecting Pandu Port in Guwahati to NH-27, cruise terminals at Biswanath Ghat and Neamati, and a Regional Centre of Excellence at Bogibeel for maritime skill development.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the projects aim to boost trade, tourism, employment and strengthen inland waterways under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for improved connectivity in the Northeast.
